Loved this Pancake.

There’s a beautiful sense of impermanence running through this — warmth flickering into life just long enough to be felt before shifting again.

The way embers become light, stone becomes opening, and loneliness becomes something momentarily shared gives the whole piece a quiet, sacred transience.

There is always something familiar in love.

We say “I feel like I’ve known you forever.” because in a way, we have. We fall in love with the parts of ourselves that we see reflected in this person. It makes us feel good that someone so wonderful would love us. Not realizing, it is ourselves we are falling in love with. Or, rather, the embers within us that this person has reignited.

Nice.

I read this two ways: literal and through vedanta lens. Here’s how I read it literally:

The poem reads like a confession delivered in hindsight—quiet, intimate, and slightly haunted.

There is a softness throughout, even when describing pain; you rely on tenderness rather than dramatics. Your tone is reflective, as if you are discovering the truth at the same moment you are articulating it.

Through Vedanta lens:

Your poem can be read as a journey from

forgetfulness (ignorance of the Self)→ encounter (a teaching or presence that rekindles insight)→ longing (hope)→ contraction (patterns that harden the heart)→ grace (unexpected illumination) → vulnerability (loosening of old dreams)→ openness (surrender to the knowledge of the Self)

Ultimately, the poem expresses the return to intimacy with one’s own Being, symbolized as a beloved “you.”

Hi Dipti, I think your battery quit on you at the end? 😅 I know you were traveling yesterday, but regardless, you're right, about all of it

And the discovery was simultaneous with the reflection

You know me, I write the moment I'm feeling it

Or more likely I lost my train of thought. I have arrived and spending precious time with them. This is an amazing piece of work. I forgot if I restacked it or not. I will have to check. This one we could have discussions on my class about. Thank you.

This poem feels like a quiet resurrection, where forgotten embers are coaxed back into fragile flame.

The speaker admits to no memory, yet recognises the miracle of life returning where death once lingered.

Purity arrives as something beyond comprehension, pristine yet aching with promise.

Hope is woven with garlands of ache, showing that renewal always carries longing.

Neglect hardens into stone, but light breaks through shadow to soften what was lost.

Loneliness spills from the ribs, visceral and raw, as if the body itself remembers grief.

The temple becomes a metaphor for guarded selfhood, defended against the hunger for belonging.

Yet the act of opening transforms that temple into communion, a surrender to connection.

The poem honours vulnerability as sacred, a gesture of trust after silence and ash.

It reminds us that even after ruin, the heart can still choose to open and love.
