Anamnesis
A poem
Outside is winter
In all its bitter blight
While a fire burns inside my chest
To stave off the harsh world
With its ill tidings
A bone-deep cold may take us soon
We may not tarry long in this world
My words may drift away on the wind
Of digital decay
But I have known you
Felt you within
Carved out a space where you exist
And may shelter inside my warmth
For as long as you choose
Know
That no matter the weight on you
No matter the struggle it may be to rise
To face a new day, with its surfeit of challenge
Or the crackle of age
And deterioration
You are part of me
Your pains are mine
We have shared a fire
And I cannot forget you
To my dear friends

Mike, I love the feel of your poem; its visceral quality and the description of this partnership. Really beautiful work!
